Cheque Authority Card closure

We’re withdrawing the Cheque Authority Card. This means you’ll need to return or securely dispose your card  after 30 June 2022, and we’re not accepting new applications. If this affects you, here’s everything you need to know.

What is the Cheque Authority Card?

Our Cheque Authority Card is a service for businesses which allows the cardholder to pay for postage using a cheque. You’ll be aware whether you’re a cardholder or not.

Why is the Cheque Authority Card service closing?

We’ve got better and easier-to-use products available for paying for your business postage. Take a look at them below and find out how your business could benefit from transferring to one of these services.

What happens next?

On 30 June 2022, the contract between Post Office LTD and yourself will come to an end. We’re no longer accepting any new applications and renewals will not be accepted after 22 April 2022,   so we’d encourage you to think about the alternative services available to you. These are easier to use and more efficient than the Cheque Authority Card.

1. We’ve written to you.

You should have received a letter about the closure of your account

2. We’ll write to you again.

We’ll send you a reminder 6 weeks from the closure date

3. Destroy or return your card to us after 30 June 2022.

Cut your card in two and either dispose of it securely or return it to your local Post Office branch

Card renewals

If your card expires before 15 April 2022 we will be accepting applications for renewals until 22 April 2022. All newly issued cards will expire on 30 June 2022.

Alternative services

Drop & Go

Drop & Go is the simplest and most efficient way to pay for postage, especially if you send multiple items regularly.

Simply set up an account online for free, top it up with what you need (including our auto-top-up feature) and take your items into a branch. As the name suggests, you just need to drop your packages off and we’ll do the rest – no queueing or figuring out postage needed.

Prepaid company cards

There are a range of organisations that offer prepaid cards that can be used to pay for your postage.

Use a credit or debit card

And of course, you can pay for your postage with a business credit or debit card.

Data protection

Where we hold personal data in connection with the Cheque Authority Card, we are obliged to return that data to you or delete all of it when our services end and/or our contract relating to the card ends unless it is necessary to retain that data in accordance with the law.
