It might not be the most exciting thing to think about, but it's just as important as your passport and your travel tickets. Any more than that and you may be better off with Annual Multi-trip Cover.

What’s covered?

Personal liability and protection for legal costs that you might unexpectedly incur while you're away are covered. Terms and conditions apply. For full details of whats covered, take a look at our policy documents

Additional travel insurance cover options

Additional cover for Natural Catastrophe and Terrorism, Enhanced Trip Disruption (including Air Space Closure), Gadget and Golf. Mandatory cover for Cruise and Winter Sports cover are available for an additional premium too.

Natural Catastrophe and Terrorism cover

The chances of encountering a natural catastrophe or terrorist event are small, but they can happen. If you’re affected it can cause huge disruptions and worry. Our new, optional extra covers some of the unpleasant consequences such an event could have on your trip. >>

Enhanced Trip Disruption Cover

Recently, drones buzzing around caused disruption to many travellers by closing airspace. Don’t get caught out: take a look at our additional cover option to be covered for cancellation and delay from airspace closure. >>

Gadget Cover

Lots of us wouldn’t get very far without our beloved tech. Whether it’s just your smartphone or a menagerie of various tablets, laptops, drones and consoles, our gadget cover can make sure you’ve got an extra level of protection for those things you couldn’t do without. >>

chevron-right icon down-arrow icon

Winter Sports Cover

If you’re going skiing or snowboarding, then having specialist ski cover is mandatory. Winter Sports carry much more risk and emergency costs to airlift you from a mountain can be high, so make sure you have cover that protects you on the piste. >>

Cruise Cover

Cruise cover is mandatory if you’re going on one. But it’s important as it covers you for a raft of things that could go wrong - from missing your departure point due to a breakdown to falling ill on board; being confined to your cabin to losing your baggage. >>

Golf Cover

If you’ve gone on holiday specifically to play golf, then one of the worst things that could happen is the loss of your clubs. We make sure you’ve got cover for unpleasant eventualities, such as losing clubs, refunds for course closures and more (subject to terms and conditions).

Single Trip Travel Insurance FAQs

What is Single Trip Travel Insurance?

Single Trip Travel Insurance covers you and others on your policy for one trip. If you are taking more than one trip in a year, you would either need to get a Single Trip policy for each journey, or you could consider Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance. Alternatively if you are aged between 18 and 60, you may want to consider our Backpacker policy.

A single trip can last up-to 365 days* provided the journey begins and ends in the UK and isn’t broken with visits home.

What are the advantages of Single Trip Travel Insurance?

If you travel infrequently – perhaps only once or twice a year – then you might want a Single Trip policy for your journey. Also, if you are taking a single trip of lasting duration (up to 365 days) then a single trip policy can also cover you too.

Will I need extra cover with Single Trip Travel Insurance?

You may need to take out additional cover if you’re taking part in certain activities, like skiing or going on a cruise. Because these types of trip involve a different level of risk for insurers, this needs to be reflected in your travel insurance and is subject to an additional premium.

There are some adventure sports and activities that are covered as standard on your Single Trip Travel Insurance and others that aren’t. It’s important to fully understand your policy document so you don’t become involved in something that you’re not covered for.

What’s covered with Single Trip Travel Insurance?

With Single Trip Travel Insurance, you would be covered for medical expenses, cancellation or curtailment, and loss of belongings. However, the amounts you are covered for and the specifics of what these things entail will depend on the level of cover you take out. You can review all of our policy documents to find out which one would be most suited to your needs.

What different cover levels are there for Single Trip Travel Insurance?

We can offer you a choice of insurance at three different levels: Economy, Standard and Premier. We also offer Lite, Prime and Elite which are designed to allow us to offer cover to more customers with existing medical conditions.

If you decide on a Premier policy you will be able to enjoy complimentary airport lounge access if your flight is delayed for two or more hours. >

Still have questions about travel insurance?

Make sure you have right cover

EHIC

EHIC is good, but not good enough

You may have heard about the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). It will give you some state-provided medical healthcare for less than you'd otherwise pay if you're travelling in Europe. But travel insurance will provide cover for much more, like cancellation, your luggage, and medical repatriation to the UK. Why not check out our policy for more details?

Credit card

Have cover with your bank or credit card?

You may think you have cover already. Perhaps because your bank or credit card includes it as a perk. But have a quick look at the policy to see if it gives you the cover you need. Always make sure you read the terms and conditions of any policy so that it is suitable to you and the trip you are taking. Also that you're not paying for something you don't need.
