Covid-19 travel restrictions

Coronavirus continues to disrupt travel to some destinations. The UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) governments regularly updates the list of countries you can travel to, but that doesn’t mean there will be no restrictions. It’s your responsibility to check the latest Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advice before you travel. Your travel insurance policy won’t be valid if you travel against it.

The same applies for any local entry requirements, such as testing, or restrictions in your destination country, like local lockdowns or curfews. Advice may differ by city or region or prevent certain activities. It’s up to you to check local coronavirus laws, guidelines and requirements in plenty of time before you go. Check what’s expected in your destination country.

Finding the right over 65s travel insurance needn't be an effort

Post Office Travel Insurance has no upper age limit, if you decide to travel only once a year we can offer a single trip cover, or for those of you traveling more, we can provide annual cover.

Make sure you're covered

If an accident happens to you while you're away, you could end up liable to pay a small fortune in hospital bills. Post Office Travel Insurance could help cover you.

All medical conditions considered

Post Office Travel Insurance covers most pre-existing medical conditions. Get a quote today to see if we can cover you. If you have a serious pre-existing medical condition that Post Office Travel Insurance cannot offer cover for, the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) have launched a directory listing companies that may be able to help you. The directory can be accessed by either clicking here or calling 0800 138 7777.

Ghic and Ehic won't protect you as much as we can

If you're in EU, a valid European Health Insurance Card (Ehic) or its replacement UK Global Health Insurance Card (Ghic) give you access to state-provided medical healthcare for less or free. But our travel insurance could cover more of the cost, including costs the cards don’t cover like repatriation. Don't forget, we can also help protect you against delays or cancellations, lost luggage & documents and personal liability. What's more, if you are going abroad to snowboard or ski there are even more reasons you need travel insurance.

Finding the right over 65 cover is easy with us

If you fancy a cruise, we can provide cover with trip limits up to 31 days if your aged 76 and over. For anyone aged 71-75 it's 90 days, and 70 and below it's up to 365 days. If you fancy a spot of golf, there are no age restrictions and for the more adventurous, we offer winter sports cover up to 70 years of age.

What if you have a medical condition?

You may have a pre-existing medical condition like asthma, a heart problem or cancer. But we don't think that's a reason why you shouldn't be able to enjoy yourself on holiday. So we offer Medical screening to declare any medical conditions that you may have.

Sort out the insurance when you sort out your holiday

It's a good idea to buy your travel insurance as soon as your holiday is booked. It will cover you for cancellation or anything that might prevent you from travelling, like unexpected illness, injury or even bereavement before you make your trip.

If your holiday is cancelled, we can help

And our Annual Multi-Trip cover is in place for a whole year, so you can be reassured knowing your holiday is protected from the policy start date you choose. For cancellation cover to begin immediately for any trips you’ve already booked, make sure you choose the date you buy the insurance as the start date for the policy.

The availability of cover options is dependent upon the level of cover you select. Conditions and exclusions apply. For full details of what's included with your cover, check the Policy Wording.
