Upgrade your cover with ease
Need cover for your policy that's not included as standard? Just pay a little more to add these upgrades – optional or mandatory depending on the trip type.
Trip Disruption cover (including Terrorism, Natural Catastrophe and Air Space disruption)
Holidays are meant for relaxing but outside factors can sometimes cause disruption and worry. This optional extra helps protect you from the impact of airspace disruption, natural catastrophes or terrorist acts on your travels.>>
Add extra coronavirus protection to the standard cover included in all our Travel Insurance policies. Includes missed departures, connections and unexpected costs due to Covid-19. Cutting short your trip, if those you stay or travel with test positive for the virus. >>
From smartphones and tablets to laptops, consoles and drones, give the gadgets essential for your trip the extra protection they need with our easy-to-add gadget cover.>>
Specialist ski cover is mandatory if you’re going skiing or snowboarding. Winter sports carry much more risk and emergency costs to airlift you from a mountain can be high, so make sure you have cover that protects you on the piste. >>
If you're going on a cruise, specialist cover is both important and mandatory. It covers missed departure due to breakdown, falling ill on board, being confined to your cabin, lost baggage and more. >>

What’s covered with Single-trip Travel Insurance?
With Single-trip Travel Insurance, you would be covered for medical expenses, cancellation or cutting short your trip, and loss of belongings. However, the amounts you are covered for and the specifics of what these things entail will depend on the level of cover you take out. You can review our policy documentto find out which one would be most suited to your needs.
Does Single-trip Travel Insurance cover cancellation?
Yes, your Single-trip Travel Insurance policy will cover cancellation of your trip – or if you have to cut it short – in some circumstances. Those circumstances even include cancelling or curtailing a trip due to coronavirus in some cases. You’ll find full details of what’s covered and what isn’t in thepolicy wording.
Will I need extra cover with Single-trip Travel Insurance?
If you take out a single trip policy you’ll travel insured to the level of cover you choose when you apply.
For instance, while some cover against the impact of Covid-19 is included, you might want to add extra protection if the virus causes you to miss a departure or other delays. Check our new Covid-19 upgrade. If you’re taking part in certain activities, like skiing or going on a cruise, because these types of trip involve a different level of risk for insurers, this extra cover must be added to your policy and is subject to an additional premium.
There are some adventure sports and activities that are covered as standard on your Single-trip Travel Insurance and others that aren’t. It’s important to fully understand your policy document so you don’t become involved in something that you’re not covered for.
What are the advantages of Single-trip Travel Insurance?
If you travel infrequently – perhaps only once or twice a year – then you might want a Single-trip policy for your journey. Also, if you are taking a single trip of lasting duration (up to 365 days*) then a single trip policy can also cover you too. Terms and conditions apply.
What different cover levels are there for Single-trip Travel Insurance?
We can offer you a choice of insurance at three different levels: Economy, Standard and Premier. If you decide on a Premier policy you will be able to enjoy complimentary airport lounge access if your flight is delayed for one or more hours. >
When is the best time to start Single-trip Travel Insurance?
It’s often best to buy Single-trip Travel Insurance as soon as you book any part of your trip. Cover for cancellation won’t begin until you purchase it. The start date needs to be the start date of your trip, but by taking it out straight away, should something happen between now and the start of your trip, you can be covered for cancellation in some circumstances. It’s another thing sorted and out of the way, and one less thing to forget as you get nearer to your trip and things get busy.
How much is Single-trip Travel Insurance?
The price you pay for Single-trip Travel Insurance really depends on what you need your policy to cover. When you get a quote from Post Office we’ll ask what level of cover you need for all of the things you might like to protect, or issues you may want to safeguard against, when the time comes to travel. So we’ll work out a competitive price for that cover based on the options you choose.
Is there a discount for students?
Yes, there is. We’ve partnered with Student Beans to offer a student discount. To claim it simply log in with your Student Beans account here. If you don’t have an account you’ll need to register for one here and verify you’re a student first. You’ll be given a unique code, which you’ll need to enter into the promotion box that appears when getting your travel insurance quote. The discount will be taken off your quote total.
You may have heard about the European Health Insurance Card (Ehic) or its replacement for UK citizens, the UK Global Health Insurance Card (Ghic). They give you some state-provided medical healthcare for free or a reduced cost if you're travelling in EU countries. But travel insurance will provide cover for much more, like cancellation, your luggage, and medical repatriation to the UK. Why not check out our policy for more details?
Have cover with your bank or credit card?
You may think you have cover already. Perhaps because your bank or credit card includes it as a perk. But have a quick look at the policy to see if it gives you the cover you need. Always make sure you read the terms and conditions of any policy so that it is suitable to you and the trip you are taking. Also that you're not paying for something you don't need.
