The Hong Kong dollar is the official currency of Hong Kong, which is a Special Administrative Region of China. Hong Kong has been a relatively prosperous economy – particularly considering its size – and the HKD is one of the most traded currencies in the world.
HKD banknotes are 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000. Dollars are divided into 100 cents, and the Hong Kong currency has 10, 20 and 50 cent coins. There are also 1, 2, 5 and 10 dollar coins.
The Hong Kong dollar is only used as currency in Hong Kong, however it is commonly traded on the stock exchange.
