  • The US Dollar is the formal currency of the USA as well as the de facto currency of numerous other states and regions. It is the most traded currency in the world, as well as the currency most held in reserve.

The US Dollar is a relatively stable currency, which has meant that some countries have introduced it at times when their own currency is volatile. Some countries, such as Lebanon, unofficially use US Dollars in conjunction with their own tender. Other territories – for instance the British Turks and Caicos Islands – officially use the US Dollar on the exchange too.

  • Officially, the countries and territories that use the US Dollar are:

    • United States of America
    • American Samoa
    • British Virgin Islands
    • Ecuador
    • El Salvador
    • Guam
    • East Timor
    • Marshall Islands
    • Federated States of Micronesia
    • Palau, Northern Mariana Islands
    • Puerto Rico
    • Turks
    • Caicos
    • US Virgin Islands
    • Spanish Virgin Islands
    • British Indian Ocean Territory
    • Bonaire
    • Saint Eustatius
    • Saba

  • Need travel money today? We can help with that. Many of our branches keep euros and US Dollars in stock.

You can check which branches near you offer euros on demand using our branch finder. Search your location, the select ‘filter services’ and choose ‘Foreign Currency – Euros Available’ under 'Travel'.

Availability varies so it’s always best to order currency online or in branch and collect it later.

When placing online orders, select the collection/delivery date of your choice. An option is available to obtain currency the same day, as long as there are branches in the area that have sufficient currency stocks to fulfil your order. If there aren't any, this choice won't be displayed in the dropdown list. You will, however, be offered a home or branch delivery service, which is available next working day, provided you order before 3pm.
