Why local business banking matters

If you run a small or medium business, you probably still deal with cash some or lots of the time. Maybe your customers pay in coins and notes. Or perhaps you need change to fill your till each morning.

We can help with that. At thousands of Post Office branches across the UK, you can manage your business banking in the same place you drop off parcels or pick up supplies. It saves you time and helps you stay focused on what matters: your customers.

Business banking at Post Office

We work with all the major banks to provide banking services in our branches.

If your bank is one of the many we work with, you can use us to pay in cash and cheques, take out cash, check your balance and, with some business accounts, request change. Just bring your usual business debit card or deposit slip. And please make sure you check with your bank or on our banking services page to see what services are available for you.

Here’s more detail on what you can do.

Pay in your business takings

You can pay in cash and deposit cheques at any of the thousands of Post Office branches that offer banking services. Whether it’s daily, weekly or just when your till gets full, we make it quick and convenient.

Some banks let you use your bank card, others need a paying-in slip and, for cheques, a bank-branded envelope. Either way, you can get your takings where they need to go, quickly and conveniently.

This service is especially helpful if you’re already popping into a branch to send a parcel, stock up on forms, get stationery, buy groceries or anything else they offer.

Easy access to your cash

Cashflow’s critical to running a healthy business. And, as well as making it easy to pay money in regularly, we also make sure it’s simple to withdraw too, for the times you need some physical cash. That might be for your float, to pay staff, buy supplies or top up your petty cash.

Whenever you need it, we’re here for secure access to your money over the counter. And many branches also have free-to-use ATMs either inside or outside.

It’s handy for all types of businesses, whether you’re a busy corner shop, a local café or running a mobile business on market days.

Ask your postmaster

Your local postmaster can be a valuable partner for your business. They understand your busy schedule and needs, from effortless banking to seamless sending of online orders.

Think of your local Post Office team as an extension of your own, ready to help your business grow.

Change-giving services

Some business accounts also let you get change from Post Office branches that offer banking services.

This means you can swap notes for coins, prepare your till for a new day and avoid running out of change at awkward moments.

It’s a useful service if your business handles small payments, like hairdressers, takeaways, playgroups and community organisations.

Handy business banking’s closer than you may think
