So, what exactly is Cash Kickstarters?

Cash Kickstarters is an initiative by Post Office and non-profit group Unloc. It’s designed to help young people aged 13 to 18 build a better relationship with their money.

Whether it’s saving, budgeting, managing your money or landing your first job, Cash Kickstarters is here to help make money simpler and get you ready for the future.

We’re making this happen with free money workshops in schools and colleges across the UK. Led by Unloc’s experts, these sessions are fun, interactive and packed with practical tips to help you take charge of your money. Plus we’re sharing simple guides and money hacks to help too.

Cash Kickstarters bootcamp

Our bootcamps are fun, three-hour workshops for Year 9 and 10 students. They help you feel more confident about your future job choices and teach you the basics of managing money.

The latest sessions were held at Central Foundation Girl’s School in Bow, London and Park Community School in Leigh Park, Havant. Led by Unloc’s money experts Zui Mansata and Tom Lloyd, the sessions were packed with need-to-know advice and hands-on learning.

Here’s what they covered:

  • Making money as a young person
  • Simple budgeting and money management tips
  • Bossing job applications and interviews
  • Kickstarting your own business – including tips for creating a business plan and TikTok content

By the end of the session, students felt inspired, full of new ideas and ready to take on their financial future.

Cash Kickstarters masterclass

Our masterclasses are 90-minute sessions designed to help college or sixth-form students understand their career options and reflect on their own journeys. They aim to instil those who attend with confidence for their lives after college.

The latest sessions, again led by Zui and Tom from Unloc, brought teens together at City of Portsmouth College and Capital City College Group in London.

Topics covered included:

  • Taking control of money and budgeting
  • Nailing job applications, including CVs and covering letters
  • Building interview skills and confidence
  • Understanding what employers look for
  • Budgeting a £1,500 pay cheque for needs, wants and savings, plus some surprise costs too
