How far will your Singapore currency go?

If you’ve got your sights set on Singapore, here are a few things to keep in mind to suit your budget.

Dorm rooms are the cheapest accommodation but there are plenty of good, inexpensive hotels too. And all the big hotel names are here.

The big food halls around the city offer an all-you-can-eat street food experience that’s both cheap and tasty. There are also lots of high-end restaurants. Tap water is safe to drink but bottled can be expensive.

A medium-sized budget allows for daytrips and a bit of souvenir shopping. A bigger budget means you can take tours and do some luxury shopping. A travel card will help you avoid the queues for ticket machines and expensive taxi fares.

  • No need to tip – it’s not usually expected, but some hotels and restaurants do add a service charge
  • Avoid fines – many people get fined for jaywalking, so make sure you don’t do it
  • Be price wise – a three-course meal for two with wine in China Town will cost you around £69
