Proving and protecting your identity made easy

As a student, there’s lots to juggle. Studying. Making new friends. Finding a part-time job. And more.

On top of all that, you often need to prove who you are, whether it’s to buy age-restricted items, sign up for online services, show your right to work for a job or access student discounts.

Keeping your personal information safe is just as important. But carrying physical ID everywhere isn’t always secure.

EasyID is a free app from Post Office and Yoti, the trusted name in digital identity. It’s designed to securely store and share your ID. It’s approved by the UK Government for checking your DBS record, right to work or right to rent. And it meets high security standards, making it safe and reliable.

What is EasyID?

EasyID is a digital ID app that lets you prove who you are without carrying documents. It’s secure, quick and easy to use. Once set up, you can use it for things like:

  • Proving your age in shops, bars and online
  • Verifying your ID when signing up for services
  • Applying for jobs by proving your right to work
  • Creating a digital student ID

It works both online and in person, and only shares the information you need.

How EasyID works

Here’s a look at how EasyID works, all the ways it can help, and why it’s a must-have on any student’s phone.

How EasyID helps students

1. Prove your age easily

Need to show ID to buy something in a shop or get into an event? EasyID is PASS certified and works like a digital passport or driving licence. Just show your EasyID card using your app. There’s no need to carry your actual ID.

2. Stay safe online

When signing up for apps or making online purchases, you don’t always want to give away your full details. With EasyID, you always know what you’re sharing and only ever share what’s needed. This helps protect your identity and keep your information private.

3. Make job applications simple

When you start looking for part-time work or preparing for a full-time job, employers need to check your ID for your right to work in the UK. EasyID makes it quick and secure to prove your right to work. It’s also accepted for DBS (criminal record) checks, which some jobs require.

4. Rent your own space

EasyID can help landlords check if you have the legal right to rent in the UK. Instead of showing documents in person, you share only the relevant information digitally via the app. It’s faster and safer, helps landlords follow the rules, reduces the risk of fraud and makes renting easier for everyone.

5. Create a digital student ID

You can add your university email and a photo to make a digital student ID in the app. This can help you prove your student status for discounts and other student-only services.

How to get started

1. Download the app

EasyID is free to download from the App Store and Google Play.

2. Set up your account

Create an account using your phone number and set a secure 5-digit PIN.

3. Add your ID

Take a selfie and scan a government-recognised photo ID, like a passport, driving licence or PASS card.

Once set up, you’re verified for life, meaning you can use EasyID whenever you need it.
