If you are driving in the EU after Brexit, you will need to have the following documentation:
UK driving licence
V5C vehicle logbook
Evidence of valid motor insurance
A ‘green card’ from your insurer
A VE103 if you are taking a rental car into the EU
A GB sticker to display on your vehicle
You may also need the relevant International Driving Permit in some countries. An IDP is not needed to drive in the EU, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland or Liechtenstein if you have a full, valid photocard driving licence issued in the UK. But you may need an IDP if you have a paper licence or your licence was issued in Guernsey, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man or Jersey.
Green cards are needed as proof of insurance when driving in the both the EU and European Economic Area (EEA). If you’ll be towing a a trailer or caravan, you’ll need a separate green card for it.
