Can I keep my phone number?
In most cases you should be able to keep your phone number when you switch to Post Office. In the rare instance you may need a new number we'll let you know before you place your order.
How much can I download?
All our Broadband packages are totally unlimited so you can download or stream as much as you like without paying any extra data charges.
Should I cancel my current broadband service?
If you currently have broadband - you'll need an active service to switch to Post Office. If you cancel your broadband account with your current provider your switch to the Post Office will be delayed.
If you currently have cable broadband e.g. Virgin Media - you can keep your cable service connected and use this until your Post Office broadband service is activated. Once we've confirmed your service has been switched to us, check that your old provider has cancelled your service. This should stop any unnecessary payments being made.
Will I stay online until I'm connected?
Yes, you'll still be able to do all the things you normally do online whilst we switch your broadband and phone over to Post Office.
What if I don't want to make any calls at all?
You can arrange for an outgoing call bar to be placed on your account if you don't want any calls to be made - please contact our customer service team to arrange this (Note: You'll still be able to call emergency services such as 999, 112).
Why do you need my phone number and postcode details?
We need your phone number and postcode so that we can check if broadband is available at your address and what Broadband speed and you are likely to get.
What will happened after I place my order?
After you’ve placed your order, you’ll first receive a Welcome Brochure along with a Welcome Letter/Email detailing when your service will be going live.
Next, a few days before your service is about to go live you’ll receive your new Wi-Fi router which you can start setting up on your “Go Live” day.
Once your service is live, you’ll receive your first bill.
Will I need a new router?
All of our Broadband packages come included with a Wi-Fi router, you’ll receive this a few days before your service is about to go live.
Each comes with a simple quick start instruction guide – you’ll just need to make sure you don’t start setting it up until your Go Live date.
Note: Unless you're an experienced Internet user please only use the router we supply you to ensure optimum performance. Routers from other providers are likely to be locked, preventing them from working with other broadband services.
Will my broadband speed go up and down?
During your first 10 days, your broadband speeds may fluctuate and your connection may even drop out at times.
This is perfectly normal as we need to run tests to make sure you get the best speed possible. Keep your router on 24/7 so that we can give you the best possible speed and service.

Broadband speed can vary significantly depending upon your location, phone line, home wiring, time of day, electrical interference and how many people use your network at once. Because of these factors, your speed may be lower than the advertised up to 17Mb/sec for standard broadband, or up to 38Mb/sec or 76Mb/sec for Fibre Broadband or any speed estimate we provide. We'll estimate your download speed when you check availability at your address, but your actual speed could still be slower.
