Frequently asked questions

What happens after I register?

Your account goes through our accreditation process to ensure we have all the relevant information and can get you set up as quickly as possible. Once the accreditation is completed your account will be live and ready to trade. You can use the award-winning online platform WU EDGE as well as an extensive UK-based support team who are only an email or call away.

How long before I can trade?

Provided all the information sent is correct and nothing further is required, then you could be trading in just a few days. But if further information is required, how quickly you can trade will depend on the speed at which this information is sent back to us.

How much can I transact?

There are various ways in which you can transact, be it online or offline. The amount depends on what your business needs are, however we may be able to offer extensive spot and credit lines subject to a full risk and credit assessment by our risk team (which may ask for supporting documents to support any credit arrangements).

Is my money safe with you? Are you regulated?

You will be transacting with our partner Western Union who is a licensed EU credit institution or bank and has robust requirements aimed at keeping your money safe. Western Union International Bank is regulated across Europe, and in the UK is subject to limited regulation by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority.

How long does a transfer take?

Depending on the type of transfer, we can get the payment there within minutes. The speed of the payment may be affected by time differences with the country you’re sending money to. By utilising the H2H feature on the Western Union EDGE platform we can get around these time differences in some countries and have the payment there within minutes.

What’s the difference between the first initial registration and the second one I do when in the WU EDGE platform?

The initial registration gives you access to the WU EDGE Network. This allows you to become familiar with the platform and its features, with the exception that you will not be able to send or receive payments.

When you submit the required documentation over the platform, our team reviews the application with a view to gaining a full understanding of your business. They then complete the account set-up for you, allowing you to use the platform to send or receive payments.

What happens after I submit the documents during the registration process?

If you have not completed all the paperwork, or if anything is incorrect, we will contact you within 2 working days of you submitting your documents. Once completed, you will receive an email via Help & Support (Collaboration Centre) in WU EDGE to acknowledge receipt of your application and inform you of next steps within 3 working days.

Once I submit the register for payments application, can I make payments/transact straight away?

Once you register to make payments and provide us with all the relevant documents, we will work to accredit you so that you can safely transact on the WU EDGE platform. If you have provided all documents as requested in the registration instructions, we will be able to accredit you more quickly. We will contact you to let you know when your account is set up and ready to use.

What happens if I don’t receive an email with my login credentials?

If you don’t receive an email with login credentials, firstly check your spam inbox/junk folder. The email may be there.

If not, go back into the EDGE platform and click on the “forgot your password” link. Enter your username (typically your email address). This will reset your password.

Check that you provided the right email address. If there is a problem with your email address, re-register with the correct email address.

To help, you can also whitelist the email address from which the email is sent i.e. donotreply@westernunion.com. This will prevent the spam filters from blocking the email

How do I make a payment?

You can make a payment using the “Payments” drop-down box on the EDGE home page. You will have access to Help & Support articles throughout the payments process. You can also contact us through the Collaboration (Help & Support) Centre if you need extra support.

I’ve booked a trade and want to cancel it. Can I do this?

Yes. You can always cancel a payment, however, as the rates are locked in at the time of booking the markets may have moved for or against you. If they move against you then you could incur losses on the exchange rate differential. If the market moves in your favor, then we can of course cancel the payment free of charge.

What if I previously had an account with Post Office International Business Payments provided by moneycorp?

On the 31st July, Post Office ended its relationship with moneycorp. This means that any previous accounts provided by moneycorp for Post Office International Business Payments will no longer exist. Any forward trades booked prior to the 31st July that are due to be completed after will be honoured by moneycorp. Please contact Post Office General Enquires for any further information.
