If you’re applying for an ISA

To complete your application, you’ll need to provide:

  • One valid proof of identity
  • One valid proof of address

Please note:

You can’t use the same document to verify both your identity and address.

All documents must be original documents, not photocopies or scans.

Acceptable forms of identity

Please provide one of the following:

  • Current valid signed passport or EU national identity card
  • Firearms certificate
  • Electoral ID card (Northern Ireland only)
  • Current full old-style UK driving licence (non-photo card type driving licence)1
  • Current UK/EU photo card driving licence1
  • Correspondence from the DWP (Dept. of Work and Pensions)/Benefits agency (dated within the last 6 months)1

Acceptable proof of address:

Please provide one of the following:

  • Current electricity bill (dated within the last 3 months)
  • Current gas bill (dated within the last 3 months)
  • Current landline telephone bill (dated within the last 3 months)
  • Current water/sewerage bill (dated within the last 3 months)
  • Current full old-style UK driving licence (non-photo card type driving licence)1
  • Current UK/EU photo card Correspondence from the DWP (Department of Work and Pensions) or benefits agency (dated within the last 6 months)1
  • Bank, building society, mortgage, credit union or credit card statement (dated within the last 3 months)2
  • Local authority correspondence valid for the current tax year (for example, rate or council tax, dated within the last 12 months)
  • HM Revenue & Customers or Revenue Commissioners correspondence (for example, a tax coding notice, dated within the last 3 months)3

If you’re applying for another type of savings account

To complete your application, we may ask you for documentation to verify your identity, address or financial status.

Please note:

All identity and address documents must be certified.

All documents must be original copies, not photocopies or scans.

Accepted proof of identity

Please provide one of the following:

  • A current valid full passport
  • A current full UK/EU photocard driving licence or an old-style paper licence copy

Accepted proof of address

Please provide one of the following:

  • A utility bill, such as gas, electricity, water, satellite television, telephone (not mobile), broadband (not dongle contracts) bill, dated within the last 6 months
  • A bank, building society, mortgage, credit union or credit card statement, dated within the last 6 months, or an annually issued mortgage statement dated within the last 13 months
  • Local authority mail, such as a rates or council tax letter, dated within the last 13 months

Additional proof of financial status

If needed, we may ask for further documentation to verify your financial status.

Important: If we don’t receive your documents within 28 days of your application, it will be cancelled. You'll then need to reapply for your chosen savings account.
