Weekend and bank holiday post
Post is collected everywhere on Saturday mornings, up and down the UK. Collection times vary, so check with your local branch for your local times and remember, there are no collections anywhere on Sundays.
There’s also no post collection or delivery on bank holidays. Think of bank holidays in the same way you’d think of post on a Sunday. If you sent an item by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed™ Next Day on a bank holiday Saturday, it wouldn’t be delivered until the following Tuesday.
For items weighing up to 20kg, Royal Mail will aim to get your parcel delivered the next day for 1st Class, and within 3-5 days for 2nd Class (except Sundays for either service).
For heavier/more urgent items there are three options available from Parcelforce. express24 guarantees fast next day delivery by 5pm , or there’s express48 which guarantees delivery within 48 hours of the end of the day it was posted. E.g. if you post a parcel at 10am on a Monday morning, it will be delivered by 5pm on the Wednesday. For more precise deliveries, there’s also a timed service with 9am, 10am or pre 12pm deliveries guaranteed.
