How it works

Affordable cover for your dog or cat

  • Vet fee cover up to £7,000 per policy year
  • 10% discount when you apply online
  • Emergency boarding fees if you are hospitalised for more than 48 hours and cannot care for your pet
  • Premiums paid for up to six months if you are unable to work as a result of an accidental injury, illness or involuntary unemployment from a full time position.
  • Up to 90 days cover when you are abroad for countries included within the PETS Travel Scheme
  • 24 hour veterinary helpline providing help and advice night and day.
  • Local advertising and reward up to £1,000 should your pet be lost or stolen
  • Holiday cancellation of up to £3,000 should your pet be taken ill prior to your departure or if you have to come home early.
  • Third party liability of £2,000,000 should your pet cause injury to another person (dog only).

Pre-existing illness or injury or anything first occurring or showing symptoms
within 14 days of the policy start date will not be covered.

Pets not covered

We don’t cover wolves, any wolf hybrid or any animal registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and the Dangerous Dogs (Northern Ireland) order 1991 or any subsequent amendments, and any of the following breeds or dogs crossed with these breeds:

American Bull Dog, Boerboel, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasilerio, Husky Wolf Hybrid, Japanese Tosa, Pit Bull Terrier, Pit Bull Crosses, American Staffordshire Terrier, Irish Staffordshire Terrier, Irish Blue Staffordshire Terrier. These are breeds we specifically do not cover because they are considered dangerous.

Travelling with your pet

Pets should be taken for regular annual check ups (or as otherwise recommended by their vet) and vaccinated with licensed products as recommended by the vet.  If you are planning to travel under PETS scheme you must comply with this.

Definitions

0800: All calls to 0800 numbers are free of charge whether made from a landline or mobile phone. Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and compliance purposes.

0303: Calls to 03 numbers will cost no more than calling a standard geographic number starting with 01 or 02 from your fixed line or mobile and may be included in your call package dependent on your service provider. Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and compliance purposes.

Take your pet abroad: The Pet Travel Scheme is administered by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and allows you to take your pet abroad to certain specific countries and re-enter the United Kingdom without the need for your pet to go into quarantine, provided certain criteria have been adhered to. The scheme is also known as PETS.
