*BROADBAND SPEEDS - Things you need to know Important information about your broadband speed

Broadband speed can vary significantly depending upon your location, phone line, home wiring, time of day, electrical interference and how many people use your network at once. Because of these factors, your speed may be slower than the advertised up to 17Mb/sec for standard broadband, or up to 38Mb/sec or 76Mb/sec for Fibre Broadband or any speed estimate we provide. We'll estimate your download speed when you check availability at your address, but your actual speed could still be slower. See here for more information on broadband speeds.

How do I switch to Post Office?

Get up and running in as little as 10 working days

1. Order
If you have a working phone line, then sign up online – sign up is simple and takes less than 10 minutes.

2. Switch
Your broadband and phone can both be switched over in as little as 10 working days from the date of your order.

3. Go Live!
Once you’re live we’ll let you know. All you need to do now is connect your new Wi-Fi router and you’re ready to go.
 

Check your contract to confirm any final charges you may need to pay your current provider. If you’re a Virgin customer, you’ll most likely need a new line installation which we can arrange (a charge will apply).

What happens after I purchase broadband?

Once you have placed your order, here’s what happens next:

Welcome Guide & Letter
In a few days you’ll get a Welcome Letter/Email. Keep these safe as they contain important information such as your Go Live date, My Account username and terms and conditions.

Payment confirmation details
Next you’ll receive a letter/email containing confirmation of your chosen payment method, as well as your My Account password.

Wi-Fi router
A few days before your service goes live you’ll receive your Wi-Fi router. In most cases, we’ll post your router through your letter box, but it’s worth looking out for any missed delivery slips.

Go Live date
Your service goes live on the date listed in your Welcome Letter and Email – mark this date on your calendar. You’ll need to wait until then before setting up your router. In some cases it can take up to midnight on this day for your broadband to go live, so please be patient if it’s not up and running right away.

0800: Calls to 0800 numbers are normally free from UK landlines and mobile phones.

 

0345: Calls cost no more than calls to geographic numbers (01 or 02). Calls from landlines and mobiles are included in free call packages.
