You can get a Travel Money Card if you’re aged over 18 and a UK resident. They’re available in three ways:
- In our travel app: the free Post Office travel app lets you order and store up to three Travel Money Cards. Order now and receive cards within 2-3 working days
- Online: you can also order a Travel Money Card online. Again, cards take 2-3 working days to be delivered. You can then link them to the travel app to manage them on the go
- In branch: simply find your nearest Post Office branch and pop in to get your Travel Money Card there. You’ll need a valid passport, UK driving licence or EEA card to get your card. And you can take it away the same day
When you receive your card, you’ll need to activate it. If it arrives in the post, the welcome letter it’s attached to will explain how to activate it.

Opening a student bank account is easy. Here are a few steps to follow:
- Research different banks: find one that suits you best, like offering the best benefits for students – for instance, interest-free overdrafts or rewards
- Gather your ID documents: you'll usually need identification (such as a passport or driver's license) and proof you’re a student (eg. your student ID or acceptance letter)
- Talk to the bank: you may want to schedule an appointment – in person or online – with someone from the bank about opening a student account. Have your documents handy
- Complete you application: depending on the bank and your own preference or circumstances, you may be able to do this online or in branch. You might need to make an initial deposit
- Activate your account: follow the bank’s instructions to start using your account, receive your debit card, and set up online banking
If your bank is one of our partner banks, you can also withdraw cash or pay cash and cheques into your personal bank account at any of the 11,500 Post Office branches across the UK.
