What you’ll need to apply

To ensure that we’re lending responsibly and that a personal loan is the right thing for you, we’ll need to make sure you meet a few criteria and read some important information.

Application checklist

Please check and confirm the following:

  • You’ve been a UK resident for at least 3 years  
  • You have a regular income of above £12,000 a year 
  • You’re over 21 and not older than 70 when the loan term ends  
  • You have a good credit rating with no history of County Court Judgements or bankruptcy  
  • You have a UK-based bank or building society account that can pay direct debits  
  • You can ensure that you’re able to meet the repayments; missed payments incur a charge and could negatively impact your ability to obtain future credit 
  • This personal loan is for your personal use and your responsibility to pay back. You don’t know of or anticipate any changes to your income during the lifetime of your loan which could affect your ability to afford the repayments

Applying for loan over £25,000 

Please check the following criteria to see if you’re eligible to apply for a personal loan of over £25,000:

  • Self-employed customers can apply for personal loans of up to £25,000 but aren’t eligible for loans over that amount 
  • If you’re applying for a loan of over £25,000, you won’t be eligible if it’s for debt consolidation. You can still apply for a loan up to £25,000 
  • If you’re an existing customer, you’ll be unable to apply for additional funds if doing so would take the total you’ve borrowed from us to over £25,000 
  • Applications for personal loans over £25,000 are only available on terms between four and seven years 
  • Customers living with parents can apply for personal loans of up to £25,000 but aren’t eligible for loans above that amount 
  • If you’re a tenant applying for a home improvement loan of over £25,000, you won’t be eligible. You can still apply for loans up to £25,000 
  • The minimum income requirement for applicants when applying for loans over £25,000 is £20,000 per annum
