If our price isn’t already £50 cheaper, here’s how we guarantee to beat your renewal:-

1. Purchase a policy from us that is on a like-for-like basis with your existing provider.

2. We'll ask you to send us your renewal  quote showing your renewal premium.

3. Then we'll arrange your payment to ensure that you have saved ast least £50.

A bit more detail

Once you’ve purchased from us we will ask you to send us the relevant documentation, including your renewal premium from your existing provider. There is a prepaid envelope for this in your policy pack. This will help us check that your existing policy and your new policy with us are on a like-for-like basis. 

Like-for-like basis means that as well as obvious things like the address being the same, the 4 things listed below must be the same in both policies. If these do not match we may not be able to fulfil your refund.

We'll replace your damaged or stolen items as part of our standard ‘new-for-old' contents insurance policy. It protects your contents against damage by fire, smoke, subsidence, storm, explosion, lightning, flood, malicious damage and theft (limitations apply to theft from outbuildings and garages). You're also covered for accidental damage to home entertainment appliances such as TVs, satellite equipment, aerials, digital receivers, radios and PCs, along with other audio and video equipment (excluding portable devices).

Add cover for legal costs, unexpected accidents and more

Our flexible policy gives you the option to add extra cover at an additional cost. You'll find more details in your policy documents.

Cover your personal possessions against loss or damage away from home. Certain items like jewellery, cameras, pedal cycles, mobile phones, camcorders, handbags and their contents must be named. These are covered as individual items with a limit of £1,500. We give you cover for up to £350 cash and up to £500 credit cards. Bicycles are also included in this section up to £350 for each bike. Cycles worth more than £350 should be listed individually in the Specified Bicycles section.

Full Accidental Damage can be added to your policy to protect your home contents against unexpected accidents.

Home Assistance hopes to give you peace of mind that you'll receive prompt assistance in the event of a domestic emergency. It provides cover for events such as plumbing and drainage emergencies or if you have no hot water or electricity.

Home Assistance provides cover for:

  • Total failure or breakdown of your main hot water or central heating system, as long as it's been serviced no more than 12 months before the emergency, and is no more than 15 years old
  • Plumbing and drainage emergencies
  • Gas and electricity supply failures
  • Up to two hours of labour and/or parts and material costs up to £100 (maximum £1,000 a year) – with all work carried out by approved tradesmen guaranteed for 12 months
  • Certain pest infestation in your home
  • Up to £250 overnight accommodation costs if you have to leave your home due to an emergency

Home Assistance is administered by ARAG plc and underwritten by AmTrust Europe Limited

Family Legal Protection is available and provides cover up to £50,000 including:

  • Disputes over the buying and selling of goods and services
  • Residential disputes with your neighbours
  • Making a claim for personal injury
  • Unfair treatment or dismissal by an employer
  • 24/7 advice helpline

What's Covered?
Buildings Insurance Contents Insurance
Protects the physical structure of your home (and permanent fixtures such as kitchen units and wallpaper) against fire, storm, flood, theft, vandalism, leaks and subsidence. Covers your personal possessions against loss or damage in and away from the home. This includes items such as, cameras, mobile phones, tablets computers, handbags and their contents and bicycles up to a value of £1500 per item (£350 of bicycles). You can select a level of cover to suit your needs. Any individual items worth over £1,500 (£350 for bicycles) must be individually listed.

It covers:

  • accidental damage – in case you put your foot through the ceiling or break a window

It gives you:

  • ^ 10% extra contents cover for Christmas, weddings and other religious festivals when you’re likely to have extra valuables in your home - for one month before and after the event
  • Contents replaced on a new-for-old basis (exclusions apply)
  • Protection against accidental damage to TVs, DVD players, hi-fi and computers

  • Replacement locks and keys to a maximum of £500 per incident
  • Garden contents cover up to £1,000 in total during the period of insurance - individual item limits apply.

Terms and Conditions

Guarantee to beat renewal price by £50 for Under 50s Home Insurance customers

1. This offer applies to new Post Office Money Home Insurance customers only, purchasing either a Buildings, Contents or Combined Buildings & Contents Insurance policy. Customers who are renewing or amending an existing policy or who have held a Post Office Money Home Insurance policy within 14 days prior to the start date of their new Home Insurance policy are not eligible for this offer. 

2. This offer excludes properties suffering from subsidence. 

3. The policy must be purchased directly with Post Office Money and is not available via price comparison websites. Policies purchased directly with Post Office Money using a quote reference obtained from the comparison website, will not be eligible for the offer. 

4. Your Post Office Money Home Insurance quotation must be on an equivalent basis matching your cover levels with your existing insurer including the voluntary excess, but excluding any additional products and instalment charges. 

5. Subject to the qualifying criteria, we guarantee to beat the renewal premium offered by your existing insurer and save you at least £50 provided you purchase the policy. 

6. If the Post Office Money Home Insurance quotation is the same as your existing insurer, then we will pay you back £50 only. 

7. If the Post Office Money Home Insurance quotation is less than £50 cheaper than your existing insurer, we will pay you the difference to make up the value of £50. 

8. If the Post Office Money Home Insurance quotation is more than £50 cheaper than your existing insurer, you are not eligible for the payment. 

9. Your premiums will be based on your initial Post Office Money Home Insurance quotation and the guarantee payback will only apply once the qualifying criteria are satisfied. 

10.To qualify for the offer you will be required to send us a copy of the documentation to prove your existing cover levels and premium details with your current insurer. You will be advised in your policy documentation where to send your documents to. You must send your documents within 30 days of purchasing your policy. Post Office Money will not be able to return any documentation sent to us in conjunction with this offer. 

11.If you fail to provide documentation or where the documentation does not meet the qualifying criteria, Post Office Money will not make any guarantee payback and the policy will continue to be charged at the quoted rate and will be subject to standard charges and fees. 

12.The guarantee payback will be paid into the account or refunded onto the debit/credit card from which the initial payment was made approximately 60 days after the policy has been in force and provided the policy has not been cancelled during this period or where the premium is being paid on a monthly basis all instalments are up to date. 

13.No guarantee payback is payable in respect of any subsequent amendments made to the policy. 

14.If the policy is cancelled for any reason within 12 months of the commencement date, we reserve the right to reclaim any guarantee payback, together with the standard charges and fees as set out in your policy documents. 

15.We reserve the right to vary, withdraw or extend this offer at any time. 

16.This offer and your Post Office Money Home Insurance quotation are subject to standard underwriting criteria. Policy terms and conditions apply and will be provided within the documentation when a policy is taken out.
