By using any of the foreign currency services on this website you consent to the following terms and conditions.

Rates of exchange quoted on this website, and currency conversions based on those rates of exchange, are indicative rates and conversions at the time of calculation. Rates quoted are for online orders only for home delivery or branch collection. They are subject to change at any time. Rates of exchange in branch may differ to online rates.
 
Rates of exchange quoted on this website, and currency conversions based on those rates of exchange, are for information purposes only and do not constitute an offer or representation that we or anyone else will sell to or buy from you currency or travellers cheques at the rates quoted.

If a country’s local currency is not available from us, not recommended or subject to restrictions, we will recommend alternative currencies or American Express Travellers Cheques. For further information on currency restrictions or what your local Post Office® branch can supply, please call 0845 8500 900.

Whilst we endeavour to give accurate information about currency restrictions and the most appropriate currency or American Express Travellers Cheques for particular countries, our information is taken from external sources and is of a type that changes frequently. We recommend that you verify this information with the relevant authorities in the countries to which you intend to travel.

Availability

The online ordering service is not available to customers outside the United Kingdom. Orders placed from outside the United Kingdom will not be processed.

Ordering

The maximum amount of foreign currency notes and American Express Travellers Cheques you can order online is £2,500. Orders can be made 5 working days in advance.

Our ability to satisfy your order depends on the availability of the foreign currency notes or American Express Travellers Cheques, exchange rate and commission fluctuations and us holding the exact denomination ordered. We reserve the right to round up or down any amounts of foreign currency notes or American Express Travellers Cheques specified in your order.

Contracting

No contract for the sale or purchase of foreign currency or travellers cheques will be concluded until the exchange and your payment is accepted at a Post Office® branch.

Delivery

The foreign currency notes and American Express Travellers Cheques you order will be despatched to your chosen Post Office® branch, for collection, or to the billing address, for home delivery, on your chosen collection date. Our estimated minimum delivery times are as follows:

• orders placed before 3pm, on a working day, can generally be ready for collection the next working day. This also applies to home deliveries. 
• orders placed after 3pm,  on a working day, can be generally be ready for collection in two working days time. This also applies to home deliveries.
• orders placed on Saturday or Sunday can generally be ready for collection after 13.00hrs on Tuesday

Working Days are Monday to Friday. Exceptions apply on Public Holidays.

Payment

When ordering online for home delivery or branch collection you can only pay by a credit or debit card issued in the United Kingdom (Visa, MasterCard, Solo, Delta or Maestro only). Alternatively if you wish to place an order in branch you can pay cash.

If you pay by credit or debit card you may be charged a cash advance or other fee by the card issuer. You will need to bring a valid passport or photocard driving licence when collecting your order from branch.

Buy-back service

You can sell your left over foreign currency notes and travellers cheques back to us when you return from your trip. You'll need to produce a receipt as proof of your foreign currency purchase from the Post Office® (it does not need to be the same branch) unless you sell them back at an on-demand Post Office® branch.

The Post Office® foreign exchange service is commission free unless:

• you are buying Sterling American Express Travellers Cheques in which case a 1.5% commission applies (minimum £3, maximum £50); or
• you are selling Sterling Travellers Cheques and you do not have a receipt showing that you bought them from the Post Office®

The calculation of commission and charges will usually be made when you order is processed, otherwise, it will be deducted from your order on the day it is processed. The current exchange rate on the day your order is processed will apply. Your order will be made up in foreign currency notes and/or travellers cheques values as near as possible to the sterling value ordered. Any difference will be refunded to you in change when you collect your order. In the case of credit/debit card transactions your card will only be debited on the day your order is collected.
