If you choose the 2 or 3-year term, you’ll need to decide if you’d like your interest paid into a nominated account annually.

2. After completing your online application, you will be sent the application agreement by post.
3. Please check the details shown on the application form are correct. Then sign and return the form. If the application is for a joint account, the second applicant will need to sign the form as well. If any details are incorrect, cross out the mistake and write neatly next to it what the change is, then initial the change.
4. Enclose a building society cheque or a personal cheque drawn from your named UK Bank Account, for the amount made payable in your name(s) (e.g. Mr J Smith or Mr and Mrs Jones) and you should write your name clearly on the back. Your opening deposit can also be made with a cheque from a financial institution made payable to you e.g. Banks and Building Society cheques. If you are investing £1,000 or less, you can also open your Bond with cash at a Post Office branch.
5. You can either post us the completed form and cheque in the envelope provided, or take it into your nearest branch to complete the application.
We will undertake electronic checks to confirm your identity. If these aren't successful, we may need to contact you to request identity documents.
Once your application has been processed, we'll send you details of your new account and return your original documents to you. This will happen within 10 days.
Young persons' applications
Growth Bonds for minors under the age of 16, can only be opened by a parent or legal guardian.
For identity verification of a minor under 16, you must provide one of the following with the application form in branch:
