Find out about how the Post Office can certify your identity and income documents for Post Office Money® product applications. 

Verifying your identity and income

We’ve started processing your Post Office Money application. Now we just need a few more details.

If we’ve asked for proof of your identity, your permanent address and/or your income, here’s what to do:

  • Complete and follow the instructions within your letter from the Post Office Money product provider
  • Drop into a Post Office branch that provides this service free of charge – use our Branch Finder to locate your nearest branch (selected branches only). The branch can also post the documents for you once they have been certified.
  • Alternatively, once your documents have been certified, send them to us along with the form in the Freepost envelope provided with your letter


Please be aware certified photocopies won’t be returned to you.

Acceptable forms of identification and income verification

List A – Identity Verification

The following list is acceptable for proof of identity:

  • Current valid full passport
  • Current full UK/EU photocard driving licence/old style paper licence copy

List B - Address Verification

The following list is acceptable for proof of address verification:

  • A utility bill dated within the last three months – either gas, electricity, water or phone (excluding mobile phone)
  • A bank current account, building society or credit card statement dated within the last three months
  • A Council Tax bill dated within the last 12 months

List C - Proof of income

The following list is acceptable for proof of income documentation:

  • One month’s bank or building society account statement dated within the last three months showing daily transactions for the period and including at least one salary payment
  • One month’s bank or building society account statement showing daily transactions for the period and one month’s payslip dated within the last three months. Alternatively, provide your current job contract to confirm your annual salary
  • One month’s bank or building society account statement showing daily transactions for the period and one month’s pension statement dated within the last three months

 
If you are self employed please provide a copy of your most recent HMRC SA302 form to provide your proof of income in addition to one item above.
