Guide to customs

If you're sending a package internationally then all services outside the EU will require a customs label. Some services also require extra documentation for EU destinations (for globalexpress you will need to fill in a customs pack even if you are sending within the EU).

As well as your customs label, you'll need to sign to confirm that the item doesn't contain anything restricted by post regulations. Familiarise yourself with international post restrictions.

Under customs law, the sender is legally responsible for the information on the declaration; therefore it is in your own interest to ensure that the declaration is completed accurately and in full.  If you have any questions, please ask in your Post Office branch - our staff will be happy to help.

Prohibited and restricted goods

There are some goods that can’t be sent in the post, and there are others that can be sent but with clear restrictions.

It's important to check that the item you are sending is allowed in the destination country otherwise compensation will not be paid out in the event of loss or damage. Some overseas countries have their own rules on what they will and will not allow to be sent by post. It's important to check the item you are sending is allowed in the destination country otherwise we will not pay compensation in the event of loss or damage.

Some countries and international organisations impose restrictions on what you can send to certain individuals, organisations or countries.
