Car insurance

You can choose additional cover with these options that can be added to any Post Office Car Insurance policy.

There are four Breakdown cover levels to suit your needs. We are currently offering Free Roadside & Recovery Breakdown cover for the first year on all Car Insurance policies^. You also have the option to upgrade your free cover to 'At Home' or 'Onward Travel'.

• Roadside Assistance: this covers you when you’re more than a quarter of a mile away from home. We aim to fix your car at the roadside but if that’s not possible we’ll tow you to an approved garage or a destination of your choice (up to 10 miles)
• Recovery: if we can’t fix your car locally in a reasonable time, we’ll transport your vehicle, you and up to 7 passengers to your home or 1 address in the UK.
• At Home: This extends your cover so you can use RAC Roadside Assistance within a quarter of a mile from home or where you normally keep your car
• Onward Travel: If we can’t fix your car locally, you’ll be offered replacement car hire, alternative transport costs or hotel accommodation

Defend your legal rights if you’re involved in a motor accident and it’s not your fault.**

Motor Legal Protection may help recover legal expenses up to £100,000 and help you recover uninsured losses from the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. For example, you may be able to claim for:

• compensation if you’re injured or killed
• compensation for you not being able to use your vehicle
• car hire charges while your car is repaired
• your policy excess if you're not at fault for an accident.
• repair costs if you do not have comprehensive car insurance

• Emergency helpline open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
• Cover up to £1000 per year to cover the cost of replacement keys, car hire (up to £40 per day) or reprogramming immobilisers
• No excess to pay
• No need to claim on Car or Home policies and no impact on NCD

Guaranteed access to a replacement vehicle if your car cannot be driven or is stolen. Cover is available in two options of either 14 or 28 day protection. Terms and conditions apply.
