Accessibility
Website accessibility - getting it right
While we aim to provide full accessibility in all new content on the website, some of our older pages may not yet meet all the standards outlined here.
The following measures are taken to ensure the content on this website is available to the broadest audience. Because of the nature of this website, following updates to content there may be times when the following rules have not been implemented, but we constantly review our services & strive to rectify any errors we find.
Access Keys
Access keys are keyboard shortcuts that replace the need to use the mouse for navigation, in browsers that support them. In Internet Explorer on Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. Then press Enter to activate the link.
The following access keys are available throughout the website:
1 – Homepage
c - Address/postcode finder
i - Find an address
j - Branch finder
k - Track and trace
4 – Search the site
2 – Basket
5 – Go to the checkout
6 – Help page
These access keys have been chosen to follow the UK government e-envoy's guidelines where applicable, in order to support the adoption of a useful standard. Wherever possible, they also avoid conflicting with commonly-used screen reader keyboard shortcuts.
Search
A search facility is available throughout the site to help you find products. The access key ALT+4 will take you straight to the search field.
Images
All content images used in this site include descriptive alt attributes. Purely decorative graphics include empty alt attributes.
Colours
We have checked the site’s font and background colour combinations against the different colour blindness conditions and ensured that all information is still clear.
Scripting
The site is fully accessible if scripting is unavailable.
Font sizes
You may change the font size of this document to your preference through your browser:
- in Internet Explorer, select View, then Text Size, and then your preferred size
- in Firefox select View, then Text Zoom, and increase the size up to two steps
- in Safari click on the large A button to increase the size up to two steps
There is also a menu at the bottom of each screen which allows a user to select to enlarge their font size.
Links
Linking text has been written to make sense out of context.
Where appropriate, links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, for example to advise you if the link will open in a new window.
Style sheets
This site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for visual layout. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the use of structured semantic mark-up ensures that the content of each page is still readable and clearly structured.
Forms
All forms follow a logical Tab order.
Labels are associated with fields using HTML label tags. Furthermore, fieldsets and legend tags have been used to mark up groups of fields that belong together.
