Pick the geographical area: For the Explorer Travel Insurance policy the areas are:
Area 1 Europe – all European countries including Eire (Republic of Ireland), Russia (west of the Ural Mountains), islands in the Mediterranean, the Azores, the Canary Islands, Madeira, Iceland, Israel, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, but excluding any cover for Egypt and Turkey.
Area 2 Worldwide – including all destinations not covered by Area 1 but excluding any cover for the USA, Canada or the Caribbean.
Area 3 Worldwide – including all destinations not covered by Areas 1 and 2, inclusive of the USA, Canada and the Caribbean.
Stopovers – for the Explorer Travel Insurance policy you will be covered for in-transit stopovers to a higher rated geographical area, as long as the number of days spent within those higher rated areas does not exceed 7 days during the period of insurance.
Two-week trip back home: You'll be allowed to make one return trip to the UK of up to 14 days during the period of insurance (excluding any return trip for which a claim is being made as a result of medical emergency, repatriation or your trip being cut short). All cover ends as soon as you clear customs in the UK and starts again after the baggage check-in at the international departure point for your return flight, train or ferry. Cover will also stop if you’ve made a claim or intend to make a claim under the curtailment section. There’s no cover available for the cost of flights where your return is for a reason you’re not insured for.
