Car insurance optional extras^

Post Office Money Over 50's Car Insurance comes with a number of optional extras for you to create the car insurance package that suits you best:

  • Add Motor Legal Protection for up to £100,000 of legal expenses to help recover uninsured losses. Claim compensation if you're unable to use your vehicle or are injured or killed as a result of a car accident which was not your fault. You could also claim for your policy excess and claim repair costs if you're not at fault for an accident and if you don't have comprehensive car insurance.

Motor Legal Protection is underwritten by Am Trust Europe Limited.

  • Take out Keycare Cover and get a 24-hour emergency helpline and up to £1,000 cover per year for the replacement of lost or stolen keys or reprogramming of immobilisers, and £40 a day for car hire for up to 3 days.

Keycare cover is administered by Ageas Insurance Limited.

  • The Guaranteed Replacement Car service is ideal if your car is stolen or can’t be driven.

Guaranteed Replacement Car is administered by ACM ULR Limited.

  • Optional Breakdown Cover to avoid getting caught out if your car breaks down. Add Roadside Assistance, Recovery, RAC At Home and Onward Travel to your policy.

Breakdown cover is provided by RAC Motoring Services.

Let us beat your renewal quote

How it works

If the policy you buy from us is the same as your existing insurer’s renewal invitation, we guarantee to beat your renewal price by at least £50. We will provide you with our price and if that doesn’t beat your existing insurer’s renewal premium by at least £50 we will refund the difference between our policy and your renewal policy, plus the £50.

If we beat your existing insurer’s renewal price on a “like for like” basis, you’ll receive the difference in price only.

A bit more detail

Once you’ve purchased from us we will ask you to send us the relevant documentation, including your renewal premium from your existing provider (there will be a prepaid envelope for this in your policy pack) so we can check that your existing policy and your new policy with us are on a “like for like basis”.

“Like for like basis” means that as well as obvious things like the address and vehicle details being the same, the 10 things listed below must be the same in both policies. If these do not match we may not be able to make your Guarantee to Beat refund.

You have 30 days to provide your proofs and it may take us up to 30 days more to make your refund, you can call us at any point on 0330 018 8210 to discuss this if you have any questions. Please note that the price of optional extras like Guaranteed Replacement Car, Breakdown Cover and Motor Legal Protection are not included in this offer. When we have confirmed the policies are like for like, we’ll pay you back the difference plus £50.

Guaranteed to beat premium price by £50 for Over 50's Car Insurance customers

1.This offer applies to new Post Office Money Car Insurance customers only, purchasing a Car Insurance policy and who are 50 years of age or over at the time of the purchase of the policy. Customers who are renewing an existing policy, amending the details of the current policy or who have held a Post Office Car Insurance policy or a Post Office Money Car Insurance policy within 14 days prior to the start date of their new Post Office Money Car Insurance policy are not eligible for this offer.

2. The policy must be purchased directly with Post Office Money and is not available via price comparison websites. Policies purchased directly with Post Office Money using a quote reference obtained from the comparison website, will not be eligible for the offer.

3. Your car insurance quotation with Post Office Money must be on an equivalent basis matching your current cover levels and personal details with your existing insurer including the voluntary excess, but excluding any additional products, instalment charges and fees.

4. Subject to the qualifying criteria we guarantee to beat the renewal premium offered by your existing insurer and save you at least £50 provided you purchase the policy.

5. If the Post Office Money quotation is the same as your existing insurer, then we will pay you back £50 only.

6. If the Post Office Money quotation is less than £50 cheaper than your existing insurer, we will pay you the difference to make up the value of £50.

7. If the Post Office Money quotation is more than £50 cheaper than your existing insurer, you are not eligible for the payment.

8. Your premiums will be based on your initial insurance quotation and the guarantee payback will only apply once the qualifying criteria is satisfied.

9. To qualify for the offer you will be required to send us a copy of the documentation to prove your existing cover levels and premium details with your current insurer. You will be advised in your policy documentation where to send your documents. You must send your documents within 30 days of purchasing your policy. Post Office Money will not be able to return any documentation sent to us in conjunction with this offer.

10. If you fail to provide documentation or where the documentation does not meet the qualifying criteria, Post Office Money will not make any guarantee payback and the policy will continue to be charged at the quoted rate and will be subject to standard charges and fees.

11. The guarantee payback will be paid into the account or refunded onto the debit/credit card from which the initial payment was made no more than 60 days after the policy has been in force and provided the policy has not been cancelled during this period or where the premium is being paid on a monthly basis all instalments are up to date.

12. No guarantee payback is payable in respect of any subsequent amendments made to the policy.

13. If the policy is cancelled for any reason within 12 months of the commencement date, we reserve the right to reclaim any guarantee payback, together with the standard charges and fees as set out in your policy documents.

14. We reserve the right to vary or withdraw this offer at any time.

15. This offer and your quotation are subject to standard underwriting criteria. Policy terms and conditions apply and will be provided within the documentation when a policy is taken out.
